As the Bay Area’s terrible air is set to continue, San Francisco smells like smoke

The Bay Area's air quality plummeted on Tuesday and was anticipated to remain poor at least until Thursday.

As the day progressed on Tuesday, San Francisco began to smell of smoke, with the air quality degrading to "unhealthy" about 3 p.m. Twin Peaks was hazy, and the air was very, very smoky elsewhere in town. By mid-afternoon, air quality in Berkeley, Marin, and the Peninsula down to San Bruno was also labeled unhealthy, and smoke could be smelled in Oakland, Tiburon, Vallejo, and many other locations surrounding the bay.
